Emily Peterson

Stands with Orem & Lindon

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Alpine School Board District 6. Having resided in Orem for the past seven years, I have a rooted understanding of the educational needs and challenges of the area. My goal is listening to and representing the parents, teachers, and faculty of Orem and the wider Alpine School District.

As a mother of four wonderful children, each with unique learning needs, I have navigated the educational system firsthand. This experience has equipped me with invaluable insights into collaborating effectively with administrators, educators, and specialists to ensure that every child receives the support and resources they require to thrive academically and personally.

My extensive involvement in community and volunteer organizations spanning over two decades, reflects my commitment to the success of our youth. From supporting school activities through the PTA to supporting DLI initiatives to enrich the curriculum for my children, I have been deeply invested in enhancing the educational experience for all students in the district.

The experience I have received through living in various regions across the country has provided a unique perspective on educational practices and policies. From a focus on student safety in Jefferson County, Colorado, to experiencing a curriculum rich in interdisciplinary learning in Carmel, Indiana. I bring a wealth of insights that can enrich our district’s educational framework.

I am passionate about  fostering creativity and balancing childhood development through preserving arts and physical education programs in our schools. I firmly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to explore their talents and reach their full potential, irrespective of their background or interests. A comfortable yet challenging education provides youth the freedom to explore new subjects while ensuring the safety needed in childhood.

Orem’s schools are not just buildings; they are the heart of our community, shaping the future generations and nurturing their dreams. I am deeply committed to building a stronger school district by listening to the needs and concerns of the community. I am against reducing the number of programs and closing schools that can be utilized in improving the education of students.

I love Orem schools. Parents and students matter, and I would like to represent you.
